There is no such thing as ‘away.’
When we throw anything away, it must go somewhere.

Logo designs
Sampah, Menyampah is a community of people who are working towards a cleaner, healthier, unpolluted, and community-spirited Malaysia. I volunteered to design their logos for campaigns that help to build awareness of trash pollution, waste, and overconsumption.

Tak Nak Straw (I don't want a straw) was a campaign that I believe was instrumental in bringing about a change of attitude amongst F&B outlets as well as consumers to say no to disposable plastic straws.

The Tak Nak Straw campaign expanded to encompass other disposable plastics with the Tak Nak Plastik Pakai Buang campaign.

A little at a time, over time becomes a habit
In this video, Sampah, Menyampah’s co-founder Carolyn Lau talks about the importance of awareness and ownership, and our relationship with our rubbish. Worth watching!

’An otter in Langkawi, suffocated in a plastic bag, is the Malaysian poster child of our trash situation, and what the Costa Rican turtle with a straw up its nose is, for global no-straw movements.
Whose plastic bag was this? Who threw it away? What did it carry and for how long did it linger before it became a smothering tool?
The answer is I did. Me, Carolyn.
You did too. And your neighbour and the people in the car just passing by. We all did.
We have to own it before we can fix it. And we can’t outsource the fix, just as we can’t continually outsource and buy pleasure, well being, pride or feeling vital and elemental in our place on this planet. The fix has to come from each and every one of us. Using our own two hands.
