Sometimes, you just want to treat yourself. And the thing with places that cater to treating ourselves - they have a lot more to live up to. The food has to be impeccable, and so should the service, ambience and decor. Café-Bistrot David is one place in KL that meet these expectations at every level. Chef and Patron David Chin humbly attributes this to the dynamism and hard work of his 'Team David'.
Then, there is the food. I believe that there is a difference between fancy, pretentious, show-off food, and good food. With good food, you can taste honesty, integrity, passion and attention to detail. You can taste David's personal touch and his years of experience. You can taste his commitment and pride in this place.
In short, Café-Bistrot David was about seriously good food, served by a seriously good team. And this is what we were tasked to capture in our photography and design.

We worked during the quieter hours between lunch and dinner, but never in a closed restaurant. There were always customers to be mindful of, and their comfort became a big part of our priorities. Although this left little space for maneuvering, we felt like we became a part of Team David during this time, and a gained a better understanding of how the team pulled together and served with so much heart.
During the pandemic lockdowns when dining-in was prohibited, Team David pivoted to provide an excellent offsite menu for delivery and takeaway. The photos helped to bring an assurance of quality. The message was: if you miss dining at David’s, you can always take David home!
In 2022, an upstairs annexe called David Bar x Grill was added with an emphasis on cooking with charcoal – or in David’s own words, playing with fire!
